For this issue the theme has been set – Human Rights and Transgender Visibility. I invite you to think of the words “human rights”. I bet you have mixed emotions when you look back from where we were as a country to where we are now as compared to other countries like Tanzania and Uganda. The truth is, we are not there yet but at least we are making positive strides, albeit gradually.

As I was going through this bi-monthly offering, one thing that came to mind was gratitude. Each article submitted carries powerful lessons and messages around the rights and freedom of the LGBTI+ milestones in South Africa and these evoke a strong sense of gratitude for living in an intentionally progressive country. Each piece is unique and written in a very balanced and educational manner.

In South Africa and in the LGTBI+ community, there are two very important months that are worth celebrating, remembering, and observing – March celebrating Human Rights Month and April in celebration of Freedom Month.

As you read through, you will come across an interesting instalment of a detailed Zulu traditional ceremony undertaken by a transgender woman called “Umemulo”. As our cover girl we have a transgender woman that has made a name for herself by paving the way for many other deprived transgender women that are on their journey of transformation.

In this issue we have included news sport highlights featuring our women national teams during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 and the upcoming Netball World Cup with South Africa as the host country for both tournaments.

This issue lets curious minds and heterosexual people learn more about how much homosexual people are not just about their sexuality but being human beings who are striving to live a better and a happy life.
